Yaya Toure believes Manchester City will become "the greatest club in the world" in the next few years.
And the midfielder feels that Barcelona, who face City in the last 16 of the Champions League in February, are already scared of Manuel Pellegrini’s free-scoring side.
Toure was a Champions League winner with Barcelona in 2009 before joining City the following year and helping them win the FA Cup in 2011, which was their first trophy in 35 years, and the Premier League in 2012, their first league title since 1968.
And the 30-year-old Ivory Coast international believes their rapid rise will continue and City will overhaul the elite clubs on the planet.
He told Sky Sports: "To make history sometimes it takes longer. I am a lucky man to be in the right place because the club have brought in fantastic players. Everything is in a good place to be honest, and I'm sure in a couple of years Man City will become the greatest club in the world.”
City are the Premier League’s top scorers this season with 51 goals, including 35 in just eight matches at the Etihad Stadium.
And Toure believes Spanish champions Barcelona will be worried about facing them, particularly at the Etihad Stadium.
He added: "[Barcelona] are quite afraid about us, the way they see us play in the Premier League at home especially, they're quite scared. We play fantastic football and we score goals, it's total attack. But it's going to be a tough game and for us we know if we're to win we need to be at the top of our game."
