Why FG Scrapped Post-UTME, Femi Adeshina Reveals

The special adviser to the President on media
and publicity, Femi Adesina, has revealed that
the decision by the government to scrap post-
UTME was informed by the need to make
admission into tertiary institutions less
cumbersome.
Adeshina disclosed this on Monday at Effurun,
Delta State when he bagged an award from the
students of Four Square Gospel Fellowship of
Federal University of Petroleum Resources,
(FUPRE).
The Special Adviser, who was represented by
Mr Emmanuel Ogoigbe, thanked the students
for considering him for the award. He,
however, urged the students to take their
studies seriously since that was the only way
they can become useful to themselves and the
society.
He said: ”I wish to express my profound
gratitude for considering me for this award. It
is indeed a worthwhile honour. As you all
know the nation is going through a process
championed by President Mohammadu Buhari,
whose tireless effort to redeem Nigerians from
the shackles of oppression, corruption and all
forms of criminality should be encouraged by
all Nigerians.”

JAMB Policy Meeting To Hold June 2nd 2016, Cut-off Marks To be Decided

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that it will on June 2nd, 2016 hold its policy meeting and fix cut-off points for admission this year.It was learnt that the policy meeting will be presidedover by the Honourable Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.Speaking on this, the head of information, JAMB, Dr.Fabian Benjamin in a statement stated as follows;"This year’s meeting is scheduled to hold on June 2.Nationally accepted cut-off marks would be decidedand issued Federal Government guidelines and regulations would be articulated and decision taken; even as it would x-ray the performance of subsequent years to put checks and balances.""The very important meeting has policy makers, the Heads of all tertiary institutions, the Vice-Chancellors, Rectors,Provost, Registrars and relevant stakeholders like the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Youth Service Corps and others in attendance.""The Honorable Minister places much important on this assembly and has categorically made it clear that he won’t tolerate a situation where decision reached would be flagrantly disobeyed or not adhered to strictly.“Some of this decision borders on admissions deadlines and quota system which some institutions has failed to comply with and other sharp practices capable of undermining the entire admission process."He pointed out that cut-off points are minimum score as candidates is expected to score before being admitted into any institution but equally added that institutions are at liberty to go higher depending on their peculiarities.

Two Major Factors To Consider When Setting Goals

Goal setting in life is a crucial thing one must take important because it is what defines your present and your future. When a man refuse to have a futuristic arrangement for his life, then he is bound to have a disorganized future.

Goal setting in life doesn't just stop at the starting, it is the ability to attain it that counts. There is a great distance and difference between setting a goal and achieving it. Setting a goal of becoming great is not the issue but achieving it. I have seen people with luxury of goals and determination and at the end unable to achieve them.

There has been various minds made up to achieve great things but ending up achieving nothing, not because the zeal is not there or the passion absent but because there are some important things that has not been discovered, considered and defined.

A goal is like a GPS in life. It gives you direction and helps you choose where to go in life. It gives you a vision about your ideal future and to turn it into reality. When you have achieved the goal, you improve your life and become a better version of yourself.

In this post, I will be discussing two vital things that determines the extent of your goal and I will like us all to take it very important. Making your goals a reality goes beyond the usual view of it. There is a great need to discover two major things which are :-

Your Strength and, your Weakness.

When an individual is able to identify his strengths and weaknesses, little are the things he will have to struggle with in life. If you will be sincere with yourself at least for once, you will admit that there is no one without his own shortcomings. Identifying your strength and weakness is one thing that is very important in academics and career.

Let's become practical now, take a stroll to the past and consider the last pursuit you made and didn't achieve.

Frankly speaking, if you had discovered your strength and also identified your weaknesses you will notice it would have been a success.

Before I begin to dwell on the two key points, I will like to site an example from my personal experience. During one of my semesters in school, I had an GP of 4.24 while the highest in my department had 4.40 I got interested in what made him score higher that I did, so I went to check the score board where I discovered we both had 6 distinctions but due to my weakness in account and mathematics, he got higher grade than I did.

Not discovering this two parameters can surely destroy a whole lot of plans and note, you must never focus on one than the other.

1. Your Strength :-
There is no one without his own strength and the most interesting thing is that our strength differs in most cases. When an individual is able to identify his strength, he makes things easy for himself and save the stress of roaming around one single thing he has at his reach.

To attain your pursuit in life, you must know your capacity and ability, your level of endurance, smartness and accuracy.

2. Your Weakness :-
When you fail to discover your weakness, it will catch up on you in a way you least expect and might cause a lot of damage. Identifying your weakness tells you where more you need to work and focus.

The major reason why your admission has not been possible is because you have not sat down to spell out where you are weak, same goes to the reason why you have not gotten a job or able to run your business well.

Your weakness does not have to do with physical defects but things you are not good at doing.

Below is list of areas People Experience weaknesses;

. Academics
. Finance
. Communication
. Non challant attitude
. Inability to control yourself
. Shyness
. Fear
. Addiction etc.

Yours might be here try to work on it and see yourself lunching into your goal.

Closing Date For JAMB Change of Course/ Institution for 2016

We want to use this medium to inform all 2016 UTME candidates that
based on previous experiences, the 2016 JAMB Change of Course and
Institution may likely come to a close on Friday 29th, April 2016
and even if there's going to be any extension, it may not be more
than 1 week from the stated date.
We understand that many candidates are waiting to know the cut-off
marks of their respective institutions before making the decision on
whether or not to go for change of course and institution. However,
many of this institution usually wait until announcing their post-UTME
sales of forms to make known their cut-off marks.
If you wait that long, you may have only succeeded in putting
yourself in an unfavourable position because change of course and
institution would have been very much over by that time.
So what you should rather do is make your decision based on the
previous Post-UTME cut off marks of these institutions and effect
the necessary changes immediately.
Please DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.
We have already helped many candidates to effect changes in their
courses and institutions with 100% success rate.

Ministry Of Education Merges CRK And IRS Into One Subject, Nigerians React

Following the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Education in
reducing the workload of primary and junior secondary pupils, it was
learnt that subjects like Christian Religious Studies (CRS) and
Islamic Religious Studies (IRS),Civic Education, Social Studies, and
Security Education will now be merged into one compulsory subject
known as Religion and National Values (RNV).
This move has attracted mixed reactions from Nigerians. While some
see it as a welcomed development, others see it a move in the wrong
direction.
According to one commenter, "this plan will fail in core northern
states because no teacher will dare teach an Almajiri about Jesus
Christ that will not have his head on a pike the next day."
"It will faill in SS/SE because No teacher there will be able to teach
students Qur'anic education because they don't even know it and will
NEVER learn it."
"It will be a success in the SW because of religious tolerance that
they espouse."
Whats your take on this?
